ATLANTA — July 1, 2026 — Fresh off the sold-out world premiere of Country Club Wrestling: The Musical, the creative team has announced its next show — and this time, they're heading poolside.
Swimtacular: The Poolside Fever Dream of Denise Dornoch is now in active development. A new two-act musical comedy with book and lyrics by San Tropat, it unfolds in the same deadpan universe as Country Club Wrestling — the same country club, the same commitment to playing the absurd completely straight, just a good deal deeper into the water.
At its center is Denise Dornoch: a tired, funny, fully human pool mom who came to the club for a little rest and instead finds a world at war with itself. The deck has quietly sorted into two colors — one red, one blue — and each is certain the other is ruining everything. Everyone wants Denise to declare which one she is.
She declines.
"Denise isn't a slogan, and she refuses to become one," said San Tropat. "She's not a red and she's not a blue. She's a whole, complicated, exhausted person trying to hold onto her actual self in a world that would much rather she pick a team. That's the fight of the show — and it turns out that's the hardest thing a person can do at a country club pool."
It is also, the team promises, extremely funny.
Swimtacular opens in the waking world — sunscreen, water aerobics, contested lounge chairs, a husband away at the wrestling matches, and children who are always just offstage. Then the afternoon sun does what the afternoon sun does, Denise closes her eyes for one second, and the pool has other ideas entirely. What happens after that, the creators are keeping to themselves for now.
The show carries forward the sincerity-first comedy that made Country Club Wrestling a hit — a musical that sold out its premiere and sent audiences quoting it in the parking lot on the way home. Familiar faces from that world turn up on the deck, and a few new ones surface from somewhere below it.
